Each area is scored out of 100 and falls into one of three bands: 80 and above is Good, 50 to 79 is Average, and below 50 is Poor. Your headline verdict is set by your weakest area rather than an average, so a single weak spot — a slow-loading page, say — pulls the overall reading down even when everything else is strong. That is deliberate: it points you straight at the thing most worth fixing first.

If your domain's email authentication is not set up correctly, the messages you send — enquiry replies, quotes, invoices — are more likely to land in spam or be rejected, and you are rarely told it happened. The check looks at whether your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are in place, because those are what mailbox providers use to confirm that mail from your domain is genuinely yours. Security headers are instructions your site sends to a visitor's browser telling it how to behave safely — for example, to load the site only over HTTPS, or to block certain kinds of injected content. Visitors never see them, but they are one of the cheapest ways to lower the risk of a site being tampered with or a visitor being exposed to something harmful. The check confirms your site is served over HTTPS and flags common headers that are missing.
